welcome seniors

welcome, welcome, welcome…and thank you!!

for choosing me to photograph you during one of the most important seasons of your life!

my goal at every session is to capture the unique beauty of you in my photographs.  to gather a collection of photos that will showcase you, as you are, in this season of life.

what to expect…

before your session: decide on what to wear.

my goal in your senior session is to capture WHO YOU ARE.  So when it comes to deciding what to wear…wear what you LOVE.  I want you to be able to relax and to be comfortable in your outfits.  We will most likely be sitting on the ground, laying down, walking or doing other things that could be difficult if your clothing is uncomfortable.

I recommend bringing 5 different outfits (casual, cozy, dressy, school-related, sports-related, preppy or edgy) and we can narrow the final choices down from that.  We will shoot your favorite outfit last, so we’ll keep that in mind when we’re discussing locations.

for guys…I would recommend bringing one outfit that is a bit dressier.  Long fitted dress pants with a buttoned-down shirt and closed-toe shoes always look very sophisticated and dapper.  Your other outfits should be a reflection of you and what you would normally wear.

for girls…I would also recommend bringing one outfit that is a bit dressier.  Long dresses or maxi skirts are super flattering and allow for lots of movement in your photos.  If you’re wearing shorts…make sure you wear great shoes. Layers will add interest to your outfit and offer more than one look for each outfit.  Over-sized tops or tunics with skinny jeans or leggings are casual and cute.  Accessories like big chunky necklaces or hats are also great ways to mix up your outfits and offer more than one look.  And don’t forget your nails…but stick with a neutral nail polish so that the focus stays on you!

choosing colors…when choosing colors for your outfits, I recommend selecting softer, lighter tones and more muted shades. By avoiding ultra-bright colors, it will help bring all the attention to you.  That softer, muted color palette and sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, creams, leather brown and white photograph beautifully and look great in almost all natural outdoor environments

location…together, we will decide on the outdoor locations for your session based on your preferences; urban, by the water, trees, football field, etc.

time…we start shooting 2 hours prior to sunset, so the actual start time will change depending on which time of year we’re in.  We will meet about 15 minutes prior to this time to finalize outfits and locations.  Sessions generally last anywhere from 1-2 hours.

props…because my style is very minimalistic and classic in nature…I generally don’t provide a ton of props.  I have a quilt or two that we can use to sit down or lay down on and I have a chair that we can use if needed.  If you have something that is meaningful to you that you would like to use in your session, let me know and we can figure out how to incorporate that into your session.
